Revolution Now
In 2019 The Hong Kong Government passed a controversial bill labeled the Extradition Bill that would allow the Chinese government to arrest and deport back to China any individuals in the borders of Hong Kong with little to no oversight. This decision sparked outrage in Hong Kong and led to a fury of protests and demonstrations which were later responded to with overwhelming force by police and military. The goal of this project was to create a magazine on a topic that we felt was important and impactful. I chose the Hong Kong Protests because I agree with their demands and goals for reform, and I was disgusted by the use of force by officers. I was also greatly influenced by the powerful pictures and videos that were taken as the protests raged on and worked to design a project which I felt gave justice to these powerful images.
